Letters to the Editor
If you have a few extra moments, please consider writing a letter to the editor and sending it to the Aspen Daily News and Aspen Times. Its important for community members to see the support for Aspen Schools and the ballot questions.
Tips for a successful Letter to the Editor:
Focus your letter—Shorter is better and generally 200 to 300 words are recommended.
Follow the newspaper’s guidelines.
Open with a strong statement, and be sure to place the most important information at the beginning. Often, letters are edited to fit the space available—most often they are cut from the bottom up.
Use a personal story or illustration to make your point.

Dear editor:
We have always taken pride in its schools. From the IB program to Outdoor Education, we’ve built something unique — schools that reflect our community values and give our children every opportunity to thrive.
But state funding cuts have drained nearly $24 million from our district over the past 15 years. Now new laws threaten to take another $5 million annually. The result? Our district must depend almost entirely on local support to keep class sizes small, attract and retain great teachers, and preserve the programs that make Aspen schools exceptional.
This November, voters have the chance to protect our schools by saying YES to 4A, 4B, 2A, and 2D. Each measure addresses a critical need: teacher pay, housing, facilities, and ongoing operations. Together, they form a comprehensive plan to safeguard what we value most.
Our children deserve nothing less than the best. Let’s stand together as a community and invest in their future.
